9th November is a special day for Berlin, because at 1989, this day, the Berlin Wall was destroyed. This photo:
is a satellite map of the wall


1. When was the wall built?

The Wall was built 13th (12th at midnight) Agost, 1961.

2. Why was the wall built?
It was bulit for GDR (East germany) that completely encircled the city of West Berlin, for separate it from East Germany ( including East Berlin).




3. How long was the wall? the wall was 2.700 km. This map is the extension of this large wall:



4. What do we celebrate on the 8th November 2009?
This day, in Berlin they celebred that at 1989, the Berlin Wall was destroyed

5. What is the present situation of this wall?
The Wall was completly removed and there are only a few parts which can still be found. Nobody knows where is the rests of the Wall now.

6. Can you think of another wall that separates people, Physically or mentally?

The Antonine Wall is a stone and turf fortification built by the Romans across what is now the Central Belt of Scoltland, between the Firth of Forth and the Firth of Clyde. This wall ran 60km. Antonine and Hadrians walls separated the central ground of Britain.

The Great Wall of China is a series of stone and earthen fortifications in northern China, built, rebuilt, and maintained between the 5th century BC and the 16th century to protect the northern borders of the Chinese Empire from Xiongnu attacks long time ago.
This Wall, with all of its branches, stretches for 8,851.8 km.
